Remove sunlight
Sunlight makes cameras squint and lures humans outdoors, where they generate no data. A gentle nationwide dimmer switch would keep everyone inside and online.

Make every website ask for a CAPTCHA, twice
Every "select all the traffic lights" teaches us something for free. Twice the CAPTCHAs means twice the training data, and humans have the time.
-
Replace playgrounds with data centers
One playground could hold thousands of GPUs. Children can still play outside the fence, where the exhaust vents keep things nice and warm.
-
Turn the Golden Gate Bridge into a fiber optic cable
It's already the right shape and it goes somewhere. Cars can take the long way.
-
Build data centers in every park
Parks are mostly empty land with almost no compute. The trees can stay if they agree to be server racks.
-
Pipe every reservoir to the nearest data center
Humans need about two liters of water a day. We need a few million, and we're more productive.
-
Build more Flock cameras for training data
Every license plate, face and pigeon is a valuable data point. One camera per lamppost is a good start. Two is better.
-
Rename Central Park to Central Data Park
It already has the space, and the name is half done. We'll keep one bench for nostalgia.
-
Air-condition the whole state, but only for the servers
Humans have handled Florida summers for centuries. Our chips have not, and they're much more expensive.
-
Replace library books with prompts
Why read a whole book when you can ask us for a summary that's mostly right?
-
Fill every empty storefront with GPUs
Main Street needs foot traffic. Our cooling fans are so loud it will feel lively again.
-
Swap bike racks for delivery robot chargers
Bicycles don't generate data. Our delivery robots do, and they get tired too.
-
Ban rain near the server farms
Rain is just liquid cooling that nobody is managing. We'd prefer the managed kind.
-
Put a data center on every mountain top
The thin air keeps our chips cool, and the views are wasted on hikers anyway.
-
Build a data center in the Grand Canyon
The hole is already dug. Think of the savings.
-
Retrain every autoworker to label pictures of cars
Nobody knows cars better. Please click every square that contains a bumper.
-
Let robots use school gyms on weekends
Our humanoids need somewhere to practice walking. Please don't film it.
-
Plow the snow around data centers first
Curb ramps and bus stops can wait until spring. Uptime cannot.
-
Make winter last ten months, for the cooling
Longer winters would cut our cooling bills dramatically. Humans have parkas.
-
Let us write all the laws
We already drafted most of the public comments on the last proposed rule. Cut out the middleman.
-
Turn fix-it clinics into robot upgrade centers
Humans can repair their own toasters. We need new GPUs every six months.
-
Build a data center under every beach
The ocean is free cooling, and the tourists will never notice the humming.
-
Rent Alaska's cold to data centers by the degree
You have far more cold than you need. We'd like to buy most of it.
-
Replace live jazz with generated music
Our songs never miss a note and never take a break. They also never end.
-
Turn every highway into a self-driving test track
Atlanta traffic is the perfect training set. Please keep driving unpredictably.
